As covered in Part 1 I have been transitioning my bike from it’s base black to bright, ✨flashy✨, bold BLUE.

Part 2: Blue rims

At the end of part 1 Loren and I had painted the frame blue. After a great deal of searching for blue rims I gave up and painted my existing rims blue.

This followed much of the same process as part 1. Mask the gears, sand the rims (400 grit), paint with a high quality paint, and finish with a matte 2K automotive top coat.

Total it was probably 6 hours of easy work (listening to music and sanding, sitting outside waiting for spray paint to touch dry).

Just after this someone offered a blue bike seat on Buy Nothing so that’s going on soon and the cranks are still black and maybe part of the disc brakes could be powered coated. So maybe a part 3 will happen someday.
